Moraga is also popular among affluent urban professionals looking for an accessible retreat from the bustle of the Bay Area’s biggest cities. There’s a strong sense of community in Moraga, with locals enjoying many outdoor events together during the balmy summer months.

Things to Do
Moraga’s strong sense of community comes to the forefront during seasonal events like the Moraga Pear Festival. This family-friendly event offers pies prepared from pears harvested at local orchards, wine tastings, and children’s activities every September. The Pear Festival takes place at Moraga Commons Park, which has year-round facilities including picnic areas, a playground, volleyball and bocce courts, and a skate park. A free Summer Concert Series takes place at Moraga Commons Park on Thursdays from June until August, and it hosts a Holiday Tree Lighting in December.
Fourth of July celebrations take place at both Moraga Commons Park and Moraga Country Club. The Country Club’s exquisite 6,150-yard Robert Muir Graves-designed course winds around hills, canyons, and creeks. Other facilities available to club members include a 22,000-square-foot clubhouse with a lounge and upscale dining room, 12 tennis courts, and an outdoor heated lap pool.
Moraga has an excellent farmers market, offering delicious and sustainable meat and produce from nearby farmers. Though it is small, what it lacks in size it makes up for in quality--the market is ranked the 10th-best in the nation according to American Farmland Trust.
St. Mary’s College of California is located within the community, home to approximately 4,000 students. The men’s basketball team is consistently ranked as one of the best in the country, and locals enjoy attending games at McKeon Pavilion to cheer on the Gaels--especially during March Madness.
